Yellow Fire Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi var. Yellow) is a stunning yellow aquarium shrimp. It is a colourful variant of the popular Red cherry shrimp. Its striking colour makes this shrimp a real eye-catcher in any aquarium.

This shrimp species is easy to keep, similar to a cherry shrimp, and not demanding on water parameters, so it thrives in tap water. It's important to note that the Yellow Fire shrimp also have yellow eggs, which can make for a unique display. Keeping them with other Neocaridina heteropoda is not recommended, as mixing may result in paler offspring.

A Yellow Fire shrimp female is larger and more curved-bellied than a male. Reproduction is easy; a fertilized female carries 20-25 eggs in their abdomen, and the small shrimp hatches in about a week. A juvenile reaches sexual maturity at about 4 months of age.

This shrimp species is ideal for an aquarium of at least 20 litres. Ten to twelve shrimp are recommended for a 30-litre tank. The aquarium should be densely planted with plants. Use floating plants to soften the intensity of the lighting. Dark-coloured substrates, such as Amazonia, will enhance the colour of the shrimp.

The water temperature should be between 22-28°C, the pH 6-8, and the water hardness Nem is critical. In addition to shrimp food, they will also accept boiled spinach and other vegetables. Their life expectancy is 1 to 2 years, during which time A Yellow Fire shrimp will make your aquarium more attractive with its bright colours.
